Hi! My name is Lori Taylor. Thank-you for visiting my web page. I am a passionate, energetic, and supportive Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. I first began my fitness career in 1996 but fitness has always been a part of my life. Over the years, I have worked with athletes as well as the general population. I have had experience teaching fitness to children, teens, adults and older adults. My current clients range in age from 6 – 91; athlete to first time exerciser.
Recently, I have been doing fitness classes at Martinique Beach, the Eastern Shore Community Centre, the Meagher's Grant fire Hall, the Porter's Lake Community Centre, OPA and O'Connell Elementary School. I have provided off-ice training to 4 local hockey teams, as well as providing agility training for the Porter's Lake soccer association. I provided athletic training for Camp Courage. I was Brandon Osborne's personal trainer as he prepared for boxing in the 2011 Canada Games. In addition, I am an Adventure team builder at Liscombe Lodge; and, also have done Adventure team building for HRM Recreation and other local establishments on the Eastern Shore (as well as Halifax).
I am a Certified PTS with CanFitPro and Certified Group Fitness Instructor with NSFA (Nova Scotia Fitness Association) as well as hold CPR C certification. I continue to educate myself in many ways, including attendance at fitness conferences.
My passion for fitness also extends to the outdoors. I have completed a 3 day and a 5 day Wilderness First Aid course, a 30 day Outward Bound instructor course as well as a 7 day women’s ascending course. Additionally, I have taken several survival and mentoring in the wilderness courses through NSOLD (Nova Scotia Outdoor Leadership Development). I currently have my Level C in flat water canoeing.
The past 15 years have been spent participating in countless races; from 1 hour to 36 hours in length - in everything from adventure racing, orienteering, running, marathon canoeing, kayaking, road and mountain biking, and multi-sport races. Recent accomplishments have been running my first marathon in 2009, in Edinburgh Scotland (for Vetaid); and, my 2010 Mt. Kilimanjaro Trek, in support of African orphans. Please check out my new Humanitarian tab as I have been an Ambassador for 'eatsotheycan.org'.
I try to balance my life as a very proud mom of 4 athletic teen-agers and an active 4 year old black lab.
2011 will bring new Adventures including hiking Machu Picchu for Peruvian orphans; and, participating in Boundless Bliss Bali. In Sept. 2011, I was a hiking guide on Meat Cove Mountain as part of the Cape Breton Hike the Highlands Festival.
I will ‘taylor-make’ fitness programs according to what fits your body, your goals, your time, your life. Personal training is just that, personal. If you have the desire to live a healthier lifestyle, let’s work together to make that happen!
